It is with great enthusiasm that I step into the role of GM of one the finest vocal ensembles in the world. I would like to pay tribute and thanks to my predecessor, Antony Jeffrey AM, who gave the Song Company stability in a turbulent period and brought a wealth of knowledge which has benefited the Song Company no end.
Personally, he has been wonderfully generous to me with his time, his wisdom and his experience of this group and the wider arts sector as I have transitioned from the Australia Council last year. Antony is a gentleman of the arts, a lifetime dedicated in service to something which he is most passionate. His success and drive for the Song Company will be difficult to rival.
In the short time I have been at the Song Company, I have come to admire the amazing capacity in which the singers and staff manage around such constraints as budgets and timelines. This extraordinarily talented group of artists and staff draw on a level of ingenuity, resourcefulness and flexibility which is truly inspiring.
I look forward to working with Roland, the singers, the staff and the Board in taking the Song Company to the next level. Of course, this next chapter of the Song Company wouldn’t be complete without you, our audience, our supporters and our friends. It has been wonderful to meet and build friendships with many of you, all of whom have the greatest respect and awe of Roland and the singers. My sentiments too!
I look forward to seeing you at our next concert.
Kind Regards
Karen
