Chronology arts begins their exciting and innovative 2009 concert series with a performance of six brand-new ‘electroacoustic’ compositions, called Electric id. These works will be performed for the very first time at 7.30pm on Thursday 12 March, at the Music Workshop, Sydney Conservatorium of Music.
Electric id explores how identity and the collective psyche have been shaped by aspects of technology, that in turn continue to influence musical expression. Six of Australia’s brightest emerging composers – Tristan Coelho, Elias Constantopedos, Donna Hewitt, Nicole Murphy, Mark Oliveiro and Alex Pozniak – are set to electrify audiences with their visions for contemporary chamber music in the computer age.
Electric id also inaugurates a new phase for Chronology arts by introducing the newly assembled Chronology ensemble, featuring five of Sydney’s most talented and enthusiastic young champions of new music: Jane Duncan (flute), Toby Armstrong (clarinet), Andrew Smith (saxophone), Luke Spicer (viola) and Eleanor Betts (cello).
